Ordinary
Ordinarily
I consider myself an ordinary man —
simple heart, ordinary fears,
the kind that keep a layman
close to the ground.
Then my eyes found yours.
In a space filled with many,
nothing else made sense —
ordinary turned superhuman,
and I have not been the same since.
Call me Superman in your presence —
not because I need you to be whole,
but because you draw out the best of me
and I love every moment of that truth.
My eyes meet yours at the place
where the river runs deep —
and still I leap,
trusting I will make it to you.
That is how you feel.
That is what you do.
Splendid comes close
to capturing it —
but I don’t mind spending forever
trying to find the word,
giving myself over
to loving you
in every moment
that is given to me.
